I believe that the motivation for helping behavior is based upon the situation. For example I think that there are several alturiam (selfless) acts during times of tragedy. Hurricanes, for example, that destroy the homes, communities, and llivlihoods of others create a need and those that give to any form of aid or asssitance for relief are done so as a selfless act. Another example would be the Pulse nightclub shooting, or 9/11 attack on the World Trade Centers, any mass tragedy of its kind, as helping behaviors were seen in tremendous outpour to victims as well as survivors and those were selfless acts.
